It’s The Nerdy Girlie’s birthday, so she chose a 5 Fandom Friday prompt near and dear to her heart. And mine, too: Favorite Local Coffee Shops.
Seattle Meowtropolitan is our first cat cafe- you can sip excellent local coffee in the front (and watch the kitties), and then go into the back and play with any cat for 20 minutes. Bonus: the cats all come from local cat rescue and shelter groups, and you can adopt them. So these cats get better socialization (making them more adoptable) and bettewr exposure to find their future forever home.
Caffe Umbria has fantastic coffee AND amazing pastries. Plus, it’s in the walkable part of Pioneer Square, so you can sit outside on the cobbles and people-watch like you’re actually in Europe. very time I’ve started to fall apart while in downtown, a quick trip to Umbria has helped me regroup.
OK, technically this isn’t local because it’s three hours away (where my dad lives). When I was (very briefly) living out there, I practically slept over at Barracuda Coffee. Even now, when I visit Dad, I must make the obligatory stop there. The coffee is just fantastic, and the service is always on-point, and the muffins (*sigh*) are amazing.
This one is SUPER local. My department recently moved location, but previously we were two blocks from Urban Timber. And I stopped there for coffee after my interview- the owner was working, and she was fantastic and was giving me all these good vibes and then I GOT THE JOB. So I’m happy to support them. They have a great selection of beer, wine, and local, healthy foodstuffs (and not-so-healthy foodstuffs), plus their service is always great.
My house. It’s true- Fedora and I are very selective about our coffees, cream, etc. We make damn fine coffee- so much so that we’ve discussed opening a geek-themed coffee shop (or mobile coffee shop), many times.
