Oh, #OTSPSecretSister project, how I love thee.
My amazing sister this time around is the fabulous Cassie from Citrus Reads (although lately, just from Twitter)! She has fantastic taste, she’s a Hufflepuff (seriously, the best people are), and she’s an RN. What’s not to love??
Can we take a minute to talk about that mug? It’s brilliant, and it holds some ungodly amount of coffee, which I love. Leviathan Wakes is the first book in the Expanse series, which has a TV show now. I know this because my family LOVES it (book and series) and have been pressuring me to read this since it debuted. And now, thanks to my secret sister, I can (and did and LOVED IT)!
The dice are brilliant. I so rarely buy myself D&D dice (I have a variety of blue ones, collected over the past two decades), so it was nice to be spoiled a bit. And that TARDIS necklace is unlike the others that I have. I love the funky wedge to it. Wearing it looks like the TARDIS is flying out from my heart….and that’s about right.
A signed copy of The Shadow Queen, which I’ve had on my wishlist forever, and Etsy wishlist goodies: two lippies from Merchant of Gallifrey (delicious and lovely) and a dragon egg pendant that matches my hair (!). Plus two bracelets of a geek fashion.
Considering Fedora and I are starting to catch up on Game of Thrones, the lippy and pendant are brilliant. And this book is a retelling of Snow White, which made me decide that this winter I’m reading winter, snow, cold themed books (The Shadow Queen, The Winter People, The Gap of Time (which is a retelling of The Winter’s Tale), etc.)
A brilliant Sherlock-themed package! This is beautifully timed (it came ON Halloween) because:
a) After getting zero trick-or-treaters last year, I did not buy candy. Literally an hour after I opened this package, we got an adorable wee trick-or-treater. I’m certain that kid would’ve cried if we didn’t suddenly have a clutch of fun-size bars to give him. Phew!
b) I just got my New World Magischola Yule Escapade character a few days prior. Her last name? Adler. OF COURSE I wanted to give her the first name of Irene and play her as a vicious bombshell. Sherlock has been on my mind (even though I have to wait months, again, for more).
And do you see Sherlock with his wee violin? He’s not in my cubicle, keeping me sane. All I need now is a Moriarty in a crown. 😉
It’s a Pride and Prejudice-themed box! Ivory and Bone is billed as a prehistory P&P-inspired novel, and of course that delightful Austen tea and THOSE SOCKS. I only wear them on special occasions. Those pens, though? I used them for my holiday cards, my planner, everything. It was right after this package that I figured out who my sister was, thanks to her clever hints.
December she surprised me yet again, with a box of amazingness. From A Long Way to a Small, Angry Planet (which I cannot wait to read!) and a Rey Funko Pop, to this TARDIS blue 7-free, USA-made nail polish and catnip toys the kittens were going nuts over. Frankly, it was perfect- like ALL of her boxes have been. Cassie, you have a gift for gifting!
I can’t tell you just how deeply it affects me, being sick and sometimes sorrowful about it, feeling housebound and overwhelmed, and then receiving a well thought out gift of adventure (books, you know) and goodies. I’ve been blessed to have fantastic secret sisters, for this project and all my swaps. I can’t wait to follow your adventures on Twitter, Cassie!
I’m a coffee-fueled, hobby-addicted bibliophage who makes cruelty-free mineral eye shadows (inspired by novels). I’m usually in front of a screen (writing, reading, or gaming), but I’ve been known to emerge for geekery, good food, and dark chocolate.
