I’m a wuss who scares easily, so this is not a list of the scariest or goriest films. It’s a list of the movies that put me in the mood for the fun side of Halloween.
Totally cheesy 80’s flick with more humor than this trailer conveys, that somehow managed to be a really good movie even though it didn’t get much traction when it was made. It’s a fantastic family-friendly Halloween movie.
Holy crap this movie is intense. But it’s another good family Halloween movie, with Angelica Houston owning it. And it’s based on the Roald Dahl book, which makes it even better.
And of course now Halloween is complete with my favorite Bette Midler movie. I had SUCH a crush on the actor who played Thackery Binx growing up. Probably because he’s either a cat or in costume, the entire time. Seriously, the most quotable Halloween movie ever.
I don’t actually need the excuse of Halloween. I will watch Shaun of the Dead any day. I adored this movie muchly.
Speaking of movies I’ll watch anywhere, anytime, with anyone, this is one of my all-time favorite Mel Brooks movies, and my whole family adores it. It’s quotable in the extreme, and so classically Mel Brooks.
I’m a coffee-fueled, hobby-addicted bibliophage who makes cruelty-free mineral eye shadows (inspired by novels). I’m usually in front of a screen (writing, reading, or gaming), but I’ve been known to emerge for geekery, good food, and dark chocolate.
