I’m still trying to find my personal style. It’s been decades of trying to HAVE style, and being restricted by my shape and size. If you’re a plus-size gal (or “off-size”), you know what I’m talking about: there are certain things they just don’t make in our size. I don’t want to look like a bag lady, but I don’t have Christina Hendricks-level curves I can show off, either.
So I turned to the experts at Dia&Co., a plus-size fashion subscription service that delivers five items in each box, styled by a professional to match your body shape, size, and style preferences.
How it Works
When you join, you fill out a questionnaire with things like your preferences for different kinds of clothing, picking the features you enjoy showing off or hiding, selecting the colors and prints you would love to try, setting your specific size, etc. You can even send multiple notes to your stylist, and they encourage you to create a Pinterest board with your style preferences, which they use for reference.
Then you select how often you want a box (every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month) and voila! You’re charged $20 per period selected, as a styling fee. Like something in the box? Buy it and get $20 off. Like the entire box? Buy it and get $20 off AND 20% off. Win-win!
Shipping and returns are free, and if you love something but need it in a different size, they do that for you as well.
You get five days after a box arrives to try things on, and then they ask that you make a selection of what you’re keeping and returning (and rate each item, so they can refine what they send next time).
What I Got
So what did I get? Drum roll please…
Was It Worth It?
At this point, I’m pleased. I think my stylist did the best she could with the limited information she had, and I feel like my second and third boxes will be more on point in terms of sizing and style. Also, my box arrived two days after it was shipped, which is as close to instant gratification as you can get when USPS is involved.
