This is Hard Boiled on the inner third of my eyelid, Meet-Cute blended at an angle across the widest section, and Tumbleweed on my outer lid, which I drew an angled line with and then blended within an inch of its life.
Love It Because…
It’s an easy analogous color scheme, and earth shades go with just about everything. The yellow gives a pop of color (which keeps attention away from dark or baggy under eyes) without overpowering the face. And Tumbleweed is such a lovely dark brown to add shadow and depth.
I paired it with magenta lips below, but I think a toasty or neutral lippy would’ve been better.
And because it’s easy to say this look is subtle but difficult to prove it, I took a series of selfies:
Wide eyes and direct sunlight, you can really see the colors and get a sense of the depth.
Squinty eyes and and a bit of shade and things get a bit more subtle.
Indoor lighting and things are subtler still! Having olive skin, I can wear yellows and tans easily, but these colors are even more complementary on duskier and darker skin.
I’m a coffee-fueled, hobby-addicted bibliophage who makes cruelty-free mineral eye shadows (inspired by novels). I’m usually in front of a screen (writing, reading, or gaming), but I’ve been known to emerge for geekery, good food, and dark chocolate.
